Blacktown City Council in partnership with Blacktown Olympic Park and the NSW Athletic League will host the inaugural Blacktown City 'Christmas Gift' - National Professional Athletic Carnival on Saturday 1st December 2007.
The Blacktown City 'Christmas Gift' will see athletes invited from all over Australia to compete for prize money - $30, 000 in total. All races are conducted under a handicap system to give an even chance of winning -making the event even more exciting and competitive.
The Blacktown City 'Christmas Gift' will now join the other 'Gifts' nationally including the Stawell Easter Gift in Victoria, The Temora Golden Gift in the NSW Country and the Queanbeyan Gift, ACT.
The event will be a trail event for Australia's most talented sprinters in the lead up to the Bejing Olympics in 2008.
The public are invited to attend this fantastic event free of charge that also includes a variety of fun activities such as face paining, jumping castles and amusements.
Heats will commence at 9am with the official opening and finals being held from 3pm.
Westpoint Blacktown's annual 'Carols Under The Stars' celebrations will follow the Athletic Gift from 6pm.
