Be part of history and celebrate the Official Opening of the new AFL/Cricket Precinct at Blacktown Olympic Park on Saturday 22nd August.
The celebrations get underway at 1pm with the annual Blacktown City 'Family SportsFest' with lots and lots of FREE sports activities and clinics. 'Come & Try' a variety of interactive activities from just about every sport you can think of including Baseball, Fencing, Golf, Goalkeeping, Karate, OzTag, Rugby League, Skating, Soccer, Softball, Squash, Swimming and Tennis.
Discover Blacktown City's great sporting and leisure venues with displays from Blacktown Olympic Park, Blacktown Leisure Centre Stanhope, Blacktown Aquatic Centre and Emerton Leisure Centre.
Be sure to catch former AFL superstar, Tony 'Plugger' Lockett, who will be lending a hand at the free AFL clinic from 2pm to 3pm. 'Plugger' is the AFL's highest ever goal scorer - setting an amazing record of 1,360 career goals.
To find out more about AFL in the region or to have a go at the AFL Playstation game, make sure to drop in to the big 'Play AFL' stands. There's loads of fun and if you're lucky you might even sneak a hug from everyone's favourite Sydney Swans mascot - Cyggy.
Are you Australia's next cricketing fast bowler? Clock your speed in the brand new Indoor Cricket Practice Centre or you can put your batting and bowling to the test from 2.30pm at the 'RTA SpeedBlitz Blues Clinic' with Cricketers Dominic Thornley, Usman Khawaja and Ben Rohrer.
Cricket NSW will also have the 'Blues Mobile' on hand all day with heaps of giveaways and opportunities to register with your local Cricket team for the upcoming season.
The young -and young at heart can have a go on the Giant Sabre Tooth Tiger Slide or show your support for your favourite team and get your face painted in your teams colours! The Channel Nine 'Today Show' Cruiser will also be on hand with loads of goodies for the whole family or batter up to the Major League Baseball Inflatable Batting Tunnel.
But the celebrations don't end there!
The community will have the chance to see the brand new top class facilities in action with a huge line up of matches from the AFL Sydney competition including the major game of the day at 6.30pm when Pennant Hills and Western Suburbs will compete for the Blacktown City Mayoral Shield in the 1st Premier Division game to be held at the new venue. Entry to the game is Free.
