The NSW Women's Metropolitan Team have claimed the 2006 Softball Australia Friendship Series Women's competition proving too strong for visiting US college Team 'US Red' in the Grand Final on Thursday July 6. In the Men's Final on the same day, New Zealand narrowly defeated the Australia Gold team 2 - 1.

The victorious New Zealand Team then took on the Under 19 Australian Men's Team in a seven game test series from July 7 - 9. New Zealand claimed the first two games, with Australia fighting back to win the third. The fine form of the visitors continued with New Zealand winning the final four games to claim the Test Series 6 -1.
