Wednesday, May 31, 2006
Blacktown Olympic Park is fast becoming the hottest venue for School Athletics with over 90 primary and secondary schools booking the athletics facility for their carnivals this year.
Sacred Heart Primary School kicked off the 5-month carnival season on April 3 with the last school carnival scheduled to take place on September 19.
Zone Carnivals are also held at the Athletics Precinct with Blacktown, Prospect, Nepean, Mt Druitt, Hawkesbury and the Hills Sports High School all choosing to hold their representative zone carnivals at Blacktown Olympic Park.
Advantages of holding an athletics carnival at Blacktown Olympic Park include full use of the athletics facilities and equipment including the all weather Olympic Standard Mondo (one of only two in NSW) athletics track, throwing fields and long jump and high jump facilities. Blacktown Olympic Park also operates the canteen facility.
"It is a fantastic to see the local community utilising the park's world class facilities just as Olympians did." Says Kevin Jones, Chief Executive Officer of Blacktown Olympic Park.
"Some of these youngsters have the potential to make it to the elite level in athletics and their school athletics carnival at Blacktown Olympic Park may be where it all begins".
Get down to Blacktown Olympic Park and experience the great atmosphere and talent on show at the athletics carnivals.
