Wednesday, October 18, 2006
Blacktown City's 'Super Sports' Clinics were a huge success these school holidays with over 80 youngsters participating in the program at Blacktown Olympic Park and Blacktown Leisure Centre, Stanhope.
From October 3 to October 13, youngsters aged between 5 -12 years took part in a variety of sports with qualified coaches.
The Athletics, Cricket, Netball, Rugby League, Soccer and AFL clinics gave kids the opportunity to learn the skills and techniques of the sport, all whilst making new friends and having fun.
Youngsters were bowled over with the skills learnt at the Cricket Clinic including bowling, batting and wicket keeping whilst the Netball Clinic saw youngsters learn how to shoot, defend and pass.
For footy fans the Rugby League Clinic taught skills such as passing, kicking and tackling with youngsters sprinting into the Athletics Clinic.
Passing, goal scoring and goalkeeping were just a few skills taught at the Soccer Clinic with Former Australian Goalkeeper and International Goalkeepers Academy Head Coach Jim Fraser on hand to pass tips to the youngsters.
Kids kicked into the AFL clinic led by the AFL NSW/ACT development team and learnt how to 'take a mark' and 'handball'.
These fantastic clinics will be held run in the January School Holiday period. For more information please contact Blacktown Olympic Park on 9839 6591 or visit www.blacktownolympicpark.com.au
