Monday, November 12, 2007

Athletes from across Australia will be sprinting into Blacktown Olympic Park for the inaugural Cadbury Schweppes Blacktown City 'Christmas Gift' professional Athletic Carnival on Saturday 1st December 2007.

The event, hosted by Blacktown Olympic Park in partnership with Blacktown City Council and the NSW Athletic League will see athletes invited from all over Australia to compete for over $30,000 prize money - making this event the richest Gift carnival in New South Wales!

All races are conducted under a handicap system to give an even chance of winning - making the event even more exciting and competitive.

The Blacktown City 'Christmas Gift' will join the other 'Gifts' nationally including the Stawell Easter Gift in Victoria, The Temora Golden Gift in the NSW Country and the Queanbeyan Gift, ACT.

Heats will commence at 9am with athletes vying for a place in the finals held from 3pm.

In addition to the action on the track there will also be a variety of fun activities for the family to enjoy including giveaways and rides with Westpoint Blacktown's annual 'Carols Under The Stars' following the Blacktown City 'Christmas Gift' from 6pm.

Young Diva's star and 2005 Australia Idol Winner Kate De'Araugo will perform on stage with the man himself - Santa Claus dropping in for a visit.

Don't miss this fantastic opportunity to see some of Australia's top sprinters in action capped off with an evening of fun & entertainment.
