Girls Just Wanna Have Fun At Blacktown Olympic Park
Wednesday, May 23, 2007
Girls are learning the skills and techniques of goalkeeping at the International Goalkeepers Academy at Blacktown Olympic Park - and having loads of fun at the same time!
Led by former Socceroo and current Sydney FC Goalkeeper Coach Jim Fraser, the International Goalkeepers Academy offers a specialised training program that focuses on both the physical and mental demands of goalkeeping.
"Many coaches and current football academies have limited or no experience in goalkeepers and typically their needs in the past have been neglected." says Fraser.
"The International Goalkeepers Academy is open to all goalkeepers of all ages, skill levels and it is great to see girls joining the academy to improve their skills in a position which can have such a great impact on the result of a game"
"Some of the ladies definitely give the boys a run for their money" adds Fraser
The group includes female goalkeepers that play in the NSW competition including keepers from the Marconi Stallions.
The International Goalkeepers Academy runs sessions from Tuesday to Friday from 3pm. For more information please contact Blacktown Olympic Park on 9839 6591 or visit www.internationalgoalkeepers.com.au
