SportsFest A 'Sportacular' Sucess

Blacktown Olympic Park was a hive of sporting activity as it played host to the fourth annual Blacktown City 'Family SportsFest' on Saturday 25th August 2007, a fantastic fun filled afternoon for the whole family.

The event was a huge success with 25 sporting associations and sporting venues displaying their services to over 2,000 members of the community at the sports spectacular that also featured Mega Inflatables, face painting, Featherdale Wildlife Park, AFL Interactive Kicking Machine and Major League Baseball Batting Cage.

Families had the opportunity to discover a variety of sporting opportunities through interactive displays and activities from AFL, Athletics, Basketball, Cricket, Golf, Gymnastics, Judo, Lawn Bowls, OzTag, Rugby League, Rugby Union, Soccer, Softball, Tennis Touch Football and Wheelchair Sports.

Sport & Recreation venues such as Blacktown Aquatic Centre, Blacktown Olympic park, Blacktown Leisure Centre Stanhope and Emerton Leisure Centre passed on information about exciting programs and events on offer throughout the year.

Youngsters had the opportunity to get tips from sports people such as Sydney FC Goalkeeper Clint Bolton, NSW Speed Blitz Blues Cricketer Grand Lambert, former Socceroo Marshall Soper and Western Rams Rugby Union Player Sam Wykes at a variety of 'Come & Try' clinics throughout the day.

There were also prizes to be won including Gift Vouchers for Westfield Mt Druitt, Rebel Sports Mt Druitt, Gym Memberships and much more.

The sporting fun continues at Blacktown Olympic Park with the final Sports Luncheon for 2007 being held on Friday 14th September with former Wallaby International and Media personality Peter FitzSimons as the special guest speaker.
