Australia's Best Are Back In Town

Australia and New Zealand's best female softballers are back in town to compete in Round 1 of the Gilley's Shield National Softball Championships from Friday November 13 to Sunday November 15 at Blacktown Olympic Park.

New South Wales, ACT, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria, Western Australia will go head to head with their Trans Tasman rivals New Zealand who take part in their very first Gilley's Shield at Blacktown Olympic Park's premier softball facilities.

The NSW Firestars kick off their 2009/10 Gilley's Shield Campaign at 5.30pm on Friday against Queensland. With Olympians Stacey Porter and Melanie Roche pulling on the Blues uniform and a home crowd cheering them on, the girls are hoping to get off to a successful start in the championships with a win against the reigning champions.

The four Round Gilley's Shield National Championships then moves on to Victoria in December and Queensland in January before with the series decider in February in the ACT.
