Blacktown Olympic Park's newest development - the AFL and Cricket Precinct is starting to take shape and now resembles a first class stadium. The NSW Cricket Board saw the stadium taking shape first hand, inspecting the new precinct on a site tour prior to this month's board meeting at Blacktown Olympic Park.
Pictured below, site tour group including, CEO of NSW Cricket David Gilbert as well as Blacktown City Mayor, Councillor Charlie Lowles and Deputy Mayor Councillor Alan Pendleton.
Mayor Councillor Charlie Lowles proudly declared "It's a very exciting time for Blacktown and we warmly welcome NSW Cricket Board. Blacktown Council is committed to the development of sport in Blacktown and Western Sydney."
Former Australian Test Cricketer and current CEO of NSW Cricket David Gilbert stated "The Directors of the NSW Cricket Board were very impressed with their recent inspection of the cricket and AFL facilities currently under construction at Blacktown Olympic Park. With completion of the project only months away, the Board is excited at the prospect of cricketers at all levels soon being able to access world-class playing and training facilities in one of the fastest population growth areas of Australia."
The new Cricket and AFL Precinct will feature 2 new ovals, the main oval accommodating up to 10,000 spectators, an outdoor practice fielding area, indoor practice centre and additional car parking. Due for completion late June, the new precinct will prove an exciting expansion for Western Sydney residents where Cricket NSW plans to hold many first class events.
