Mark Schwarzer Visits Blacktown Olympic Park

Australian Footballer of the Year and current Socceroos Keeper, Mark Schwarzer, made a special appearance at the International Goalkeepers Academy, Blacktown Olympic Park on Friday 26th June 2009.

Schwazer, together with his co-author Neil Montagnana-Wallace, signed copies of their latest book in the successful children's series 'Megs Morrison' and posed for pictures with the hundreds of fans who turned out to meet their hero.

Former Australian Goalkeeper and International Goalkeepers Academy Director of Coaching, Jim Fraser together with Mayor of Blacktown City, Councillor Charlie Lowles, congratulated Mark on his achievements before announcing him as the inaugural inductee into the International Goalkeepers Academy Hall Of Fame.

Credited with securing the Socceroos place in the 2006 FIFA World Cup by making some spectacular saves in the in the penalty shootout against Uruguay, Schwarzer has played an integral role in the Socceroos 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign, making him one of the world's most successful and respected goalkeepers.

Training the Mark Schwarzer's of tomorrow is a lifelong passion of former Australian Goalkeeper Jim Fraser.

Offering guidance and support to keepers such as Schwarzer in his developmental years and current A League players Clint Bolton and Liam Reddy, Jim Fraser and the International Goalkeepers Academy offers a specialised training program to ensure that all goalkeepers have the skills they need to take them to the next level, whether it be in their local weekend competition or for the Socceroos.
