Concert for a Cure Success

Wednesday, March 24, 2010

A crowd of around 600 turned out for the first Concert For A Cure fundraiser at Blacktown Olympic Park on Saturday.

The event included performances by 11 Australian country artists, including Beccy Cole, Luke O'Shea and Victoria Baillie, who had all donated their talents to raise funds for Westmead Medical Research Foundation and was proudly supported by Blacktown Olympic Park and Blacktown City Council.

While the official tally is still being counted, it is believed $10,000 was generated for the cause.

A guitar signed by each of the artists was also raffled on the day (winning ticket number 200027).

The event was supported by a number of kind-hearted local businesses, including Plus Fitness, Ray White Blacktown, JPW Landscape Supplies, Blacktown RSL, Nova Employment, Fernwood Seven Hills, The Mean Fiddler, Coldwater Creek Tavern and Lilys Restaurant Bar Function Centre.

Serving as compere of the event, and also donating his services, was radio station Cool Country 2KA DJ Cameron Syrett.

The Lions Club of Kings Langley provided their services for the barbecue.
