First Cricket Season A Winner!

Friday, May 7, 2010

The last over has been bowled and the batters are all out with the 2009/2010 Cricket season coming to an end at Blacktown Olympic Park's AFL/Cricket Precinct.

The inaugural summer of Cricket was jam packed with a variety of competitions across every age group.

For the first time cricket's young rising stars had the chance to play at the Park's first class grounds in competitions such as City Youth vs. Country Colts, AW Green Shield Finals and the Michael Clarke Twenty20 Series.

State cricket competitions also made their way to the venue with games such as the NSW vs. WA 2nd X1 Series and the Breakers 2nd X1 vs. Under 19 Women's Cricket drawing crowds to the Park.

International cricket made a strong debut at Blacktown Olympic Park in December with the Women's Under 21 International Cricket Series between Australia and New Zealand taking to the field.

Even though the summer season is over, there is still plenty of exciting cricket action to look forward to! This year, the Park has been lucky enough to secure the Emerging Blues and Emerging Breakers development squads who will begin training in July utilising the Indoor Practice Centre.

The 2010/2011 season will kick off late September with a calendar of events guaranteed to keep you entertained over summer.
