International Cricket Comes to Blacktown

Friday, October 1, 2010

International cricket makes its way to Blacktown Olympic Park for the first time when Sri Lanka take on the RTA SpeedBlitz Blues in a Twenty20 Tour Match on Wednesday October 27. The match kicks off at 7pm, with gates open from 5pm.

The Sri Lankan team will be looking to get their summer tour off to a great start before their upcoming test matches against Australia in November.

Not only is this the first International cricket match in Blacktown, it is also the first time the RTA SpeedBlitz Blues will take to the Blacktown Olympic Park pitch. The match promises to provide some great entertainment with the RTA SpeedBlitz Blues boasting the likes of Simon Katich, David Warner, Brad Haddin and Phillip Hughes.

Mayor of Blacktown City, Councillor Alan Pendleton, is thrilled that Blacktown City is hosting the international match.

"The Blacktown and wider community will have the opportunity to experience world class cricket in their own backyard."

"I look forward to Blacktown City hosting this and future high caliber Cricket matches at our world renowned Blacktown Olympic Park," said Mayor Pendleton.
