Olympic Champions to Strike Again at BOP
Wednesday, March 10, 2010
The Japanese 2008 Olympic Softball Gold Medalists will make their way to Blacktown Olympic Park to begin preparations for the 2010 Softball World Championships in Venezuela.
During their stay, the Japanese National team will take on the Australian Women's World Championship team in a fierce round of competition from March 18 - 20. Japan will also play the ACT Diamonds and NSW Firestars in exhibition games as part of their tour on March 21 and 22.
Japan have been regular visitors to Blacktown Olympic Park over the past few years and they bring a style of softball that is both entertaining and highly skilful. Japan's team includes the world's fastest pitcher, Yukiko Ueno, who can pitch to speeds as high as 118km.
The Australian Women's World Championship team will provide strong competition as the Aussie Spirit players get their first hit out, following their selection to represent Australia at the 2010 World Championships.
