Thursday, August 19, 2010

The Blacktown City Senior's Choir, Simply Voices, are hosting a charity concert to raise money for the Blacktown City Relay for Life and they need your support.

The choir will bring music to your ears with a variety of folk and modern tunes as well as songs from musicals and even some solo acts on Saturday, September 11 at the Rooty Hill School of Arts Hall on Rooty Hill Road South, Rooty Hill, from 2.30pm - 4.30pm. Linda Marr, choir leader, will lend her expertise and also perform at the concert and Steve Fogarty, local well-known entertainer, will MC the event.

Admission fee is only $10 and children under 12 are FREE! All money raised goes towards to total fundraised tally for the Blacktown City Relay for Life, due to be held over the October 30-31 weekend at Blacktown Olympic Park's Athletics Centre.

The Relay for Life encourages friends, family, community groups, schools and business to enter teams of 10-15 to walk in relay around the athletics track over 24 hours. At least one person from each team should be on the walking track at all times - all to raise money in the fight against cancer. The event focuses on remembering and celebrating the lives of those who have been touched by cancer, while raising funds for cancer research, education and support services.

There will also be raffles, lucky door prizes and tea and coffee so come along and enjoy an afternoon full of entertainment and help raise money for the Blacktown City Relay for Life. For more information contact Blacktown Olympic Park on 9839 6591.
