Stars Pitch in to Blacktown Olympic Park

Thursday, March 11, 2010

The stars will pitch into Blacktown Olympic Park on Thursday 18th March to take part in the very first 'Blacktown Olympic Park All Stars Oz Pitch Exhibition Match'.

Oz Pitch is a modified version of softball that caters to all skill levels of ability - so it should be a real leveler for the participants. The game will commence at 2pm as a curtain raiser to the Australia v Japan International Game and will launch Softball NSW's new 'Oz Pitch Recreational Competition.'

Each of the team's will be captained by Senior State Representative players, Ashley Pobjie and Adam Rindfleish, and will include participants from a whole range of sporting achievement. Representatives from the world of AFL and NSW Cricket will join former Socceroo Goalkeeper, Jim Fraser; Olympic Baseball Silver medalist, Glenn Williams; National Softball Selector, Janell Behrendt; and top Netballer Bernie Dench in a battle to see who comes out on top.

But it's not just these elite sportspeople who will be facing-up. Local journalists from the Blacktown Advocate will go head-to-head with their opposite numbers from the Blacktown Sun. And joining them to promote the 'Concert for a Cure' fundraising concert at BOP on 20th March will be performers Karen-Anne Waters (Racz N Waters) & Tori Darke.

Oz Pitch is an ideal game for all to play if you want to have fun and get some exercise. The Oz Pitch Recreational Comp will be held every Monday at Blacktown Olympic Park. First date; Monday April 12 through to May 31 so get involved - you will have a ball! To register your interest contact Softball NSW on 9677 4007.
