Women’s Softball Finals at Blacktown Olympic Park

The best female softball talent in the state will go head to head in the 2010 Women's State League Finals this weekend on Sunday October 31.


Teams from all regions across the state will all by vying for a place in the finals to be held at Blacktown Olympic Park from 9am.


The 2010 State League Competition began earlier in August and Softball NSW General Manager, Cathy Kerr, said this year has seen some of the best softball competition to date.


"All teams have played an outstanding season at Blacktown Olympic Park," said Kerr.


NSW Firestarters' players Sarah Bradley, Bree Brooker, Karina Cannon, Georgie Casey, Michelle Cox, Melissa Dwight, Stacey McManus, Katherine McVeity, Monique Miller, Kara Murphy, Ashlee Pobjie, Kerrie Morgan, Samantha Poole and Leanne Scott are all competing against each other in the hopes their team will make it to the final.


"We're all eager to see who makes it to the final, and the game is sure not to disappoint with NSW Firestarters' players set to provide heated entertainment as they compete against their fellow teammates," said Kerr.


Northern Storm took out the Championship in 2009 and the team is in hot contention to take out the title for a second consecutive year.


"This competition has, and continues to, give the Blacktown community the opportunity to witness first class softball in their own backyard," Councillor Alan Pendleton, Mayor of Blacktown City said


"I will all the finalists good luck," continued Mayor Pendleton.
