Another $100,000 Donation!

At what was another successful Relay for Life Golf Day, Sargents Charitable Foundation announced they will again donate an astounding $100,000 to the Blacktown Cancer Council Relay for Life.

In addition to the $100,000 cheque from Sargents, Golf Day participants rallied together to raise in excess of $14,000 at the event on Friday, May 27. The event was booked to capacity with 36 teams of local businesses and community members enjoying the sunny weather at Ashlar Golf Course.

Sargents Charitable Foundation have been involved in the Relay for Life for several years and first announced they would give a $100,000 donation to the Relay for Life at the 2010 Golf Day. The generous donation contributed to the overall fundraising tally for 2010 at over $270,000 - making it the most successful Blacktown Relay for Life to date.

Again with the help of Sargents, the 2011 Blacktown Cancer Council Relay for Life has already raised $125,000 - guaranteeing another successful year.

The 2011 Relay will take place over the October 29 - 30 weekend at Blacktown Olympic Park (Eastern Road, Rooty Hill). Residents, community groups, businesses and schools are encouraged to become a part of this community fundraising event. Billed as a 'Team Event to Fight Cancer', the Relay involves teams of 10 to 15 people taking turns to walk laps around the athletics track over a 24 hour period. Relay for Life is an overnight event - enabling walkers to come and go as they please, or pitch a tent next to the track and stay the night.
