Finals fever hit Blacktown Olympic Park over the weekend with the finals of the Men's and Women's NSW Baseball Major League Competition.
The Macarthur Orioles are the new Sydney Major League Champions for the 2010/11 season after another convincing performance in game 3 of the First Grade grand final series. The Macarthur Orioles ran out winners 13 runs to 5 as they swept the series and won their first premiership as a joint venture with Auburn, an outstanding achievement.
The Macarthur Orioles also claimed the Under 18 Sydney Major League Premiership after a tough 5 - 3 victory over Ryde Hawks.
In the Second Grade competition, Baulkham Hills Baseball Club claimed their tenth Second Grade premiership with victory over minor premiers the Ryde Hawks. In what can only be described as a see sawing battle between the top two teams of the year, Baulkham Hills were the final victors, defeating Ryde Hawks 5-4.
It was third time lucky for Blacktown Workers as they finally claimed their first Third Grade Premiership. In the tussle between the minor premiers, Baulkham Hills, the Workers came out ahead with an 8 - 3 victory to seal their maiden 3rd Grade premiership.
The Greenway Giants claimed back to back Women's A Grade Premierships with a come from behind victory against the Ryde Hawks. In a game which saw 23 runs scored, Greenway came in the bottom on the seventh innings to score the winning run and give the Giants a 12-11 win and back to back titles.
The girls from the Penrith Baseball Club have claimed the Women's B Grade premiership with victory in the Grand Final against the Greenway Giants. In an arm wrestle of a game where the lead didn't get out to more than a two runs, Penrith prevailed 4 - 3.
