The NSW softball community joined together to help Strike Out for Cancer on Sunday in support of the National Breast Cancer Foundation and Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia with over $5,000 raised.

In its second year, Blacktown International Sportspark was a hive of activity as it was transformed with a sea of pink and blue streamers and balloons to symbolise the two charity partners.

Coinciding with the Women's State League Finals Series and Men's State League round play, the venue was abuzz with an animal farm complete with pony rides, a roaring BBQ, slushies to keep everyone cool in the scorching temperatures and the inaugural Twenty20 TBall Challenge.

Softball NSW President Susan Rindfleish paid tribute to and thanked the many people who had contributed on the day, including the participating TBall and State League teams.

"I would like to thank the people that have made this day a success. It comes as a driving force from our State League Operations Committee who has really taken today to heart and made it possible," Rindfleish said.

"Every State League team both male and female, umpires and our wonderful TBallers have said that they want to help and be involved. They all purchased pink and blue sweatbands and proudly wore them during their games.

"I believe that every sport should get behind a charity and being able to once again showcase our support of the National Breast Cancer Foundation and Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia is a wonderful commitment from our sport and we hope that it will continue to be an annual event."

Carrying on the tradition from 2010, the release of pink and blue balloons as a further visual display of our support by the participating TBall teams took place at the conclusion of the opening ceremony which was emceed by Softball Australia Hall of Fame inductee and two-times Olympian Fiona Crawford.

The message was clear for everyone in attendance and was delivered passionately by NBCF Ambassador Chevoy Sweeney who urged everyone to develop the habit of self-breast checks as it was a habit that saved her life.

"Being here today and participating in events like this is a great way that you can show your support and fight breast cancer," Sweeney said.
