Stumps have been called at Blacktown Olympic Park as the 2010/11 Cricket season comes to a close.

The final match of the year saw Sydney University take on Randwick-Petersham in the Sydney Cricket Association Grade Grand Final from April 1 - 3. Simon Katich made a guest appearance on the final day of play helping lift Randwick-Petersham's score to 5-182 however in the end it wasn't enough with Sydney University taking out the title 282 runs to 228.

The season also saw a major milestone for Blacktown with first class cricket making its debut at Blacktown Olympic Park when the RTA SpeedBlitz Blues and the XXXX Gold Queensland Bulls competed in a four day Sheffield Shield match. The Park also hosted its first international cricket game in October when Sri Lanka met the RTA SpeedBlitz Blues in a Twenty20 Tour Match in October.

Blacktown Mayor, Councillor Alan Pendleton said he was thrilled with the summer of cricket. "The 2010/2011 cricket season at Blacktown Olympic Park was nothing short of action packed," Mayor Pendleton said, "with fierce cricket competition taking place from September through to April."
