Australian Olympic Team Heats Up Diamonds at Blacktown Olympic Park

The Australian Olympic Softball Team is revving up to take on the world at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games in August.
The Team's preparation hit off at Blacktown Olympic Park with practice games against a visiting college team from the United States on the 11th to 13th June.
The Australian Softball Team, know as the 'Aussie Spirit' won Bronze 8 years ago at Blacktown Olympic Park in the Sydney 2000 Games followed by Silver in Athens in 2004. This year, the team will be looking to go one better and claim the Gold medal.
The next stop for the 'Aussie Spirit' is the Canada Cup in Vancouver from July 12th - 20th July where they will take on Canada, Japan and China before heading to Beijing.
Local girls Simmone Morrow (Blacktown), Stacey Porter (Blacktown), Melanie Roche (Blacktown), and Kerry Wyborn (Werrington), will join captain Nat Ward (Newcastle), Belinda Wright (Newcastle),Jodie Bowering (Queensland), Kylie Cronk (Queensland), Kelly Hardie (Queensland), Tanya Harding (Queensland), Sandra Lewis (Queensland), Tracey Mosley (Queensland), Justine Smethurst (Victoria), Danielle Stewart (Queensland) and Natalie Titcume (Victoria) against softball powerhouses USA, Japan and China in their quest for Olympic glory.
