    Western Sydney’s Youth Festival “The Burbs” erupted in an array of colour and sound at Blacktown Olympic Park on Saturday 12th April 2008. The free festival marked the end of Youth Week and the beginning of the school holidays treating the youth of Western Sydney to a day of live music, graffiti art displays, trick bikes, mini Skate Park, stalls and inflatables.

    National Softball competition returns to Blacktown Olympic Park at the 2008 Under 23 Women’s National Softball Championship at Blacktown Olympic Park from the 15th to 19th April 2008. The Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales Country, Northern Territory, Western Australia, Victoria and Queensland State teams will take to the Softball NSW diamonds to compete in for the Joyce Lester Shield.

    Sydney FC Goalkeeper Clint Bolton joined the International Goalkeepers Academy for training throughout the last month at Blacktown Olympic Park. It was down to business with one of Australia’s leading goalies sharing tips on technique and style with the academy trainees. Clint went through various drills explaining the key to successful goalkeeping.

    Canada has claimed the 2008 Softball International Challenge with a 2 - 1 win over Japan in the Final at Blacktown Olympic Park on Sunday 16th of March. Competition was fierce over the five days, with the tournament an essential step in the teams’ warm-up for the Beijing Olympics, later this year.

    All the action of the Claxton Shield National Baseball Championship returns to Blacktown Olympic Park in 2008. In a new look home & away format, the NSW Patriots will take on Australian Provincial and Queensland Rams in the Eastern Division competition. South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia will compete in the Southern Division with winner from each vying for the 2008 Claxton Shied National Baseball Championship title.

    Goalies are ‘on the ball’ this January at the International Goalkeepers Academy Camp at Blacktown Olympic Park. Led by former international and current Sydney FC Goalkeeping Coach Jim Fraser, the camp will run from January 14 to 16 and is open to goalkeepers aged 8 years and over – adults included.
