SYDNEY SWANS COACH PAUL ROOS KICKS INTO SPORTS LUNCHEON

Friday, March 28, 2008

Premiership winning Sydney Swans Coach Paul Roos was the special guest speaker at the first Blacktown Olympic Park Sports Luncheon for 2008 on March 14.

The luncheon saw business and community leaders from across Western Sydney treated to a behind the scenes look at one of the sports most successful AFL clubs and insight into how their culture of success was built.

Paul discussed his role in bringing the premiership cup north of the boarder to the Sydney Swans AFL Club after their 72 year premiership drought. Mayor of Blacktown City, Councillor Leo Kelly OAM, credited Paul and the Swans success as a key factor in the growing interest in AFL in Western Sydney.

'AFL will add a new and exciting dimension to our community and I welcome the AFL's commitment to establishing Blacktown as the home of AFL in Western Sydney' said Councillor Leo Kelly OAM, Mayor of Blacktown City.

Work on the Blacktown Olympic Park AFL and Cricket Precinct development is expected to commence this year. The development will include a 10,000 capacity field in addition to a training field, indoor practice centre and infrastructure.
